History:

St Brendan's School in Flemington was originally established in 1887 as a one-room, one-teacher school. In 1898 the Sisters of Charity took charge of the school, then handed it over to the Sisters of Mercy in 1909 when the nearby Mercy Teachers College was established.

St Brendan's became the first school utilised by the Sisters for the purpose of training teachers. The association with the Sisters of Mercy continued until 1991.

Lay principals have since continued to administer our vibrant inner city school.
